Vancouver Native Housing Society (VNHS) was incorporated in May 1984, as an independent, non-profit Corporation. A Board of Directors of Aboriginal ancestry governs the Society. VNHS has been in operation for 20 years, and to date, we own and/or operate 13 buildings with a total of 483 units.

Over 900 urban native individuals reside in our housing, which include:

  1. Two (2) Singles-Only projects funded by BC Housing
  2. One (1) Senior's project funded by BC Housing
  3. Ten (10) Single and Family Apartments and Town homes funded by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

In November of 2001 VNHS, in partnership with Greater Vancouver Housing Corporation opened a new building for single men and women on 2626 Watson Street in Vancouver. This project was developed under the Low Income Urban Singles Program and gives single people the opportunity to live in safe, affordable housing outside of the Downtown Eastside. To date, this project has been a great success for all involved.
